THE GAME - North vs. South

In an epic battle for bragging rights, a battle was waged on Independence Day between the North and the South, No not the Civil War but a Softball game!  Not since the war however have two sides been so determined to win “seemingly at all cost, literally” In the 1st inning of this slugfest the North came out with guns ah I mean bats a blazing by knocking in two runs while silencing the bats from the South. But from the second inning on it was the heavy artillery “Home Run Power” of the South take took control of the battle. The game was all but over in the 7th inning with the South leading 23 to 5 with the North in full desperation mode, thus the phrase “Win At All Costs” mentioned earlier. The North was able to bribe the Ump who by the way was from the South “General Lee Long” with 35 greenbacks to give them 7 outs and that would prove to be huge, that and the less than accurate fielding from the Southside, mainly the left handed shortstop Mark “BOOT” Sterling and the combined clutch hitting of the North. When the gunpowder, ‘dust cleared the game was tied at 23 apiece. In that inning the emergence of a great hero from the South came to the frontline in Brenda Rohn as she was able to shoot down “strikeout” three of the five batters she faced to put out the fire. With the game on the line the south got some of that magic power back when BOOT Sterling hit a 3 run homer, as did Tommy “Trader from the North” Miller followed up with a 3 run shot of his own and that was to much for the North to overcome. The final score was the South 31 and the North 23.  Already battle plans by the North are being drawn up for the rematch at this years Plank Road Festival coming up in the fall. We will have more details when we are able to secure their secret plan.
